Editing footage from Premiere

I have to edit some footage shot in plain old DV that was edited originally in Premiere and output as .mov files. Loading it into FCP 7 is no problem. It plays and all, but FCP squeezes the aspect ratio and pillar boxes it. What's up with that? What setting am I missing?

Thanks.

Does that happen if you create a new sequence, drop a single clip in and 'okay' FCP to match the seq settings to the clip's settings?

Yes. I just tried it again from a new project with a new sequence. Maybe my eyes played tricks on me, but it looked correct for a second, and then squeezed the frame. I've never had that happen before. Usually DV is pretty hard to screw up.

Thanks.

Here's another wrinkle: When I put the same clips into Final Cut Express 4, the clips look normal. No pillar box. Both Express and Pro are setup with DV NTSC. What does that suggest?

Not sure where that box is. However, when I use the Easy Setup function, I have tried new projects with DV NTSC NDF, DV NTSC, and DV NTSC Anamorphic, all with the same effect. The clip gets pillar-boxed. Is there something I'm missing??

Thanks.

Okaaaay, I found that menu. Hmmmm...If I check the anamorphic box, i get widescreen stretched. If I un-check it, I get squished pillarboxed. Sooooo, I went to the version where I moved it from Express to Pro and when I look at the sequence settings, it says 720 x 480 NTSC DV 3:2, NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV 720x480, and that works nicely. HOWEVER, if I look at a test that started in Pro, and I have the same sequence settings, it's pillarboxed. I am very confused.

I'm guessing the XML coming out of Premiere isn't being read properly by Final Cut 7 and it's messing up your pixel aspect ratios.
