Editing DVD Footage

Hey guys, I made a wedding video and I burned it. It's been a while since I did it so I deleted all the files from my hard drive cause I didn't need the original clips or anything. Anyway, turns out that I messed up the girls name by one letter. I need to go back and edit that out.

I tried different ways, I converted it into an AVI with WinAVI Converter, but before the clips end, you lose like 5 seconds of audio which really sucks. It would work perfectly if the audio didn't cut off in the last 5 seconds of each segment of video.

I also tried just editing the VOB files itself, but now it cuts off like a few seconds off, but the seconds are critical cause it's right where the bride walks in and when the groom says, "I do." Great! Now what?

So I tried capturing straight from my DVD player. I hooked up my camcorder to my DVD player and used Firewire so you won't lose quality, but turns out, I need to turn up the volume of my DVD player to capture the audio (cause I put it on mute...my DVD player has it's own surround system so you can control the volume from there). Also, the video captured seems like it lost some quality.

What should I do? I need to do this quick. Give me software or techniques I can use guys. I am using Vegas Moviestudio 4.0 (the consumer version of Vegas).

Thanks!

Try using a software program called "ImTOO DVD Ripper 4". Basically, this allows you to rip the video source from the DVD into an .avi or .wmv file from the DVD you have. You can choose the format as well as different parameters. I've used it successfully myself. Good luck!
