Editing documentary for Digital release...

I am editing a documentary that will be released digitally. Most of the footage has been shot 29.97 fps, while the rest was shot on a DVX100A in 24p mode. I have captured the 24p mode at 29.97, and have been mixing both the 29.97 and 24p footage in the same timeline.

Since the output is a digital release, and I've never had to work on anything that was going to be ouput like that, I need some advice. Am I doing the right thing, by working in a 29.97 timeline, and just adding the 24p footage? I am not using the pulldown removal FCP HD offers.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

no -- keep doing it the way you are. Much easier not to remove pulldown than try to convert 29fps to 23.

Good luck,

If it was shot in 24padvanced(F6), you'd want to remove pulldown. If it's shot in 24p normal mode(F5), you can just edit it in 29.97 like your other footage

You wouldn't want to remove the pulldown if you are going to add it to sequences that already have 29.97 footage in them.

even if you shot the footage in 24pa you could still put it in a 29.97 seq as long as you didn't do the advanced pulldown when you imported it..
