Editing Digital8 and AVCHD in the same project

Hi everyone,

I am editing a fashion show in FCP. 50% of the footage was shot in Digital8 and 50% was shot in AVCHD / 1080i.

What shall I export the final movie as?

Everyone wants a DVD copy to take away. It is destined for DVD and not the web. Is it better to just finish to SD/DVCPRO in FCP, or, shall I finish to ProRes 1080i?

Yes, I'd say finish in DVCPRO or PRO RES at 720x480. If you finish in 1080, you might get scaling artifacts from your Digital8 footage when you go to encode the DVD. They can be fixed but it's safer to work at the same resolution as the final DVD so you know what you'll be getting. You'll get better quality from your 1080 footage if you work in PRO RES at 720x480 (better compression), which will yield a slightly better DVD encode but it might not be worth the extra rendering time.
