Editing different formats in 24p

If this has been brought up before (I'm sure it has) - sorry, and please point me in the right direction, ...but here is my problem:

I got a desert photo shoot this weekend with a sandrail manufacter, and I will be making a 24p video for them.

They are bringing in 2 more guys to film for more angles

-1 has a pd 170
-1 has a vx 1000

...how can I use thier footage smoothly in the 24p format in vegas??

THanks!!!!

Just drop the 60i footage from those two cams directly into your 24p timeline, and edit away. That's literally all there is to it. Be sure Quantize to Frames is enabled.

It also depends on what you mean by "smoothly." If you mean smooth motion, then yes, it's a pretty simple matter. The 60i footage won't be choppy or anything (caveat below).

But it will look different. 24p and 60i just look inherently different, and getting them to match somewhere in the middle takes some work, and probably will not be 100% successful. You'll have to come up with some creative editing scheme to "explain" the difference in the look between the shots, more than likely.

It could be a fun editing challenge, and actually help you craft a story in editing.

(Or, you can take the "newsy" approach and not even bother, and just switch between the two willy-nilly. Oh, yes; national broadcast media companies do this.)

But to get it to match better, you'll have to adjust color matrices, gamma, etc..

And make sure the other two guys follow the rules of shooting in 24p -- SLOW pans, SLOW zooms, sparing with each. SLOOOOOOW, especially at long focal lengths. Because if they don't, it may look fine as raw footage, but then you do your 24p render, you're going to see some unpleasant strobing. SLOOOOOW.

I had sam problem and it is not fun, pd 170 and dvx100 footage are not fut to edit !! my project got screw because of that.
