Editing Desk?

Anybody ever make a editing desk that can hold several monitors? I am running out of room with the one I have and I have been looking around for a new one. Most of these companies like Winstead and others want anywhere from $1500 to well over $3,000 for a desk! I rather build a desk before I paid all that money.

Send me a PM if you have built a desk before. In the meantime I am going to do a little online research to try and find some plans on how I can build one!

No experience in crafting, but if you can find an Ikea 'Jerker', this is by far the most versatile and customizable desk I've used.

Best thing is, these go for ~$60 used on craigslist.

Take a little time, but very easy to make. Have any samples of the type desk you're wanting buy/make ?

I'd say if you need space, and on the cheap, look into a company that sells used business furniture. We had such a business in my area for awhile(closed down recently) and they always had immense desks, and when I was younger my dad had a couple of them we used in the basement for work benches...if nothing else buy a book on simple carpentry and piece together a good bench. I used to work as a computer tech. and almost every place I ever worked or visited had benches that employees created.

i've actually always liked the idea of wall mounting, swing and swivel. if u don't mind putting holes in ur walls (you'll need extra support though) it becomes pretty convienant though when u can just push something aside and move something up close.

Building a desk is really easy, especially if you don't need drawers. I'm hoping to draw up some plans in the next week or two and build mine within the month.

Is there a thread where people have posted their setups? You could get ideas for what you want based on that then build out something similar to the setup that works best for you. If there isn't a thread like that, anyone want to post a pic of their edit desk?

If I get decent plans drawn up and the desk turns out alright I'll post pics and plans here.

Michael
