editing a felliniesque movie help

I just completed a rough cut of my feature film Felliniesque Players. I have a clip from it at http://www.releasing.net

The movie has a lot of dance sequences in it. There are very few dialogue sequences in the movie. The movie is experimental and visual in style.

I need to edit this movie very creatively. The movie needs a lot of music, because the music that I have recorded with the scenes is totally useless. The are very few traditional elements in the story. A lot of the movie I created on the spot.

I will be doing a promo reel of the movie and then ask for composers and musicians to help me score the movie or provide me with songs.

I need your advice and help in discovering special tools to make my movie highly creative and experimental. I don't know motion or any other programs.

I have a dual processor Mac G5 and FCP Studio 5.04.

Tools and technical whizbangs don't make a film (or anything else) "highly creative and experimental." Creativity comes from within you, your state of mind as you come up with new and hopefully stronger ways than others have used to make whatever statements you're trying to make. IMHO, 'creative techniques' don't exist, only creative solutions to the problems of effectively communicating ideas and emotions. Art is about emotion and exploring ways of creating and communicating emotion, not about special tools. Some of the most creative artists have used perfectly conventional and mundane tools and techniques to do it. As an example, the f/64 school of photography was a group of highly creative visual artists who used perfectly conventional tools at the highest level of craftmanship possible - their creativity came not from the tools but from employing those tools to look at the world around them with a fresh vision and insightful understanding that others had missed.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, I need to hear this. It's good to keep in mind, so I won't worry that I don't know a lot of special effects tricks. It worries me sometimes. I see so many great editorial jobs on the Internet. I'm thinking if I only knew how they did all those effects. What I like are the transitional flashes and speed changes, image morphing and flow - so many nice effects.

I'm thinking there are a lot of plugins or simple filter combinations in FCP. I guess I'm looking for some level of collaboration between editors, although maybe this is unfair. Maybe I shouldn't expect experienced editors to share a lot of their methodology.

However, I've seen and read a lot of stuff on the Internet the last two years which indicates that editors from around the world help each other out of good will.

Thanks again for your comments. You gave me confidence in my own creativity.
