Editing 24ap 16 9 on Vegas .

Hi

I am new to all of this but on a current project I am filming 24advanced and 16 by 9. Bringing in some of the clips into Vegas 4.0b, I see what I believe to be a letterbox (black space left, right, top and bottom). I assumed that 16 by 9 would render to just black space left and right. I use 3-2-2-3 pulldown.

Can anyone give me a bit of advice?

Make sure your project settings match your clip settings. If you shot in "letterbox" mode in the camera, you should be using the NTSC DV 24P preset, NOT the widescreen preset.

You may want to check on one of the Vegas forums but I don't think 4.0b has the 24p Widescreen preset which is what it sounds like you want. You can create your own preset in the custom properties settings - or download 4.0d (no reason not to.)
