Editing 1080p - FCP 5.1.4 on a G5

A friend asked me this for an upcoming project and i thought i'd resort to the knowledgable many around here,

Would a factory config g5 dual 2.0 GHz handle editing 1080p? Assuming sata drives i guess.

I got this somewhere on the web:

"The lowest end hardware reported so far that is able to play back 1080p material is a dual 1.8 GHz G5 Power Mac, which is lower than Apple's recommendation of a dual 2.0 GHz Power Mac."

I'd rather have a real experience response.

Processor related duties, yes the dual 2.0 should do you just fine. It might be a little slow on the renders (compared to an Intel box), but it will work. I think your bigger concern should be your ram. I would go with 4 GB minimum. Good luck.
