Edit to Conform 4K Acquisition

We are shooting with 4K in May and looking for other projects that have or are editing, composition, etc., and doing conforming in a FCP format all the way to film-out. Has anyone here worked on a 4K project or know of someone who has?

Which camera? That's key.

If it matters that might be a problem. We have been running pre-qual on the Phantom HD and will be running full qualification tests on the Phantom 65 this coming week. If the cameras aren't ready by April 2 for this picture we will be using the Dalsa. We have already qualified Avid Nitris and know it will handle the 4K image from both cameras. We would like to move to a FCP for our edit standard and have six fully loaded engines quoted w/70+TB SAN quoted. We are looking to qualify this system for our 4K shoot which will be shot 2.35:1 with frame sizes of 46,088KB.

I'd suggest working with a systems integrator that's going to be a very, very beefy system requirement especially if you are working in online resolution. Not even sure FCP can do 4K natively. That's more like a Nitris sort of thing. Of course you could always do an offline edit in FCP. Most workflows involve crunching down from 2K to DVCPROHD and doing the offline edit in FCP then conforming on something more potent. That's sort of what they did on David Fincher's Zodiac:

I can't see working on line with 4K images in the regular workflow .. no need to. I think moving the metafiles and 2K images around will do fine.

Some of the coloring and composting I'd like to see a few frames rendered. Otherwise, I can wait 'till I get to the edit suite late in the day to see the results returned from the render farm.
