Edit in SD then Export to HD

Is there a way I can do this. I've been trying to search but so far nothing useful came up. I have these HD clips which I downsized to SD. I edited using the SD video clips. Is there a way I can export the final to HD using the original HD clips.

I've tried reconnecting the HD clips after the edit, then copy and pasting the edit to an HD timeline sequence but it keeps resizing it and doesn't look right. The reason I'm doing this is because playback is really slow in HD.

Anyone know how to do this please?

How did you downsize? Do the new clips have the same reel number and timecode? If you used media Manager, then that would carry over this.

Take the SD offline, but the HD ones online...reconnect. Change the sequence settings (CMD-0) to match the HD clips... You will have to REMOVE ATTRIBUTES>BASIC MOTION and DISTORT...but they should reconnect.

Hi there, I've got a similar, but slightly different question about this that I'm hoping one of you guys (Shane, perhaps?) can answer:

I'm doing something similar to the above but my original files are in AVCHD, so what I'm doing is transcoding them into Prores Proxy for my edit (using an older MacBook Pro). Now, I know that if I then transcoded ALL of the files into Prores 422 I could easily reconnect them through Media Manager, however, I'm trying to save precious space on my harddrive, so I want to only re-transcode the clips which are being used in my sequence.

What I've been doing is just going through it by hand, and retranscoding the ones that I can see are missing in my new project (the 422 version), which isn't too much of a pain, IF I haven't renamed the clips at all (because I can just match the numbers). However, I'm now working with a project with a ton of footage, and it was logged my someone else, and they changed the names of the clips in the Browser (not surprisingly), but this means I can't see the number to go through them one by one.

That was a lot of lead up. My question is, is there an easy way to figure out which files I need to re-transcode from AVCHD, or (dare I dream) even an automated way?

Thanks so much for your help. On a bit of a deadline and need to come up with a good workflow pretty fast. Very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Brent
