edit in FCP

I'm done to two choices for a camera. The DVX100b or the Canon A1. I thought about the HV20, but seems to be some problems.

But anyway one of my friends has FCP 5.0.1 on his computer andf he will let me use it and work with me on editing until I can buy it. I have FCE which will ok for some stuff.

My question is will FCP 5.0.1 work with Canon's 24f? I don't want to get a camera I can't edit 24p on. I'm sure the DVX100b will work ok on this program.

You need FCP 5.1.4 to work with Canon's 24f frame rate. ANY 24p HDV format requires 5.1.4. If you are sticking with 5.0.1, then you'd better get the DVX.

No. FCP 5.0.1 can handle 24p DV. It is still 29.97, just with a film like cadence. And if you shoot 24pa, then you capture with advanced pulldown and edit 29.97.

At that point you should get Noah Kadner's DVD. It is advertised on the site.

I was just looking at the DVD yesterday. I might have to get that.

I would be pretty happy doing 24f in 60i. For what I'm going to be doing it will work. If at some point I need to edit 24f I will either have to get it or find someone that does.

I plan on doing 1080i/60 too. The 5.0.1 will work for that. . Like I said I'm down to either the DVX or the Canon A1.
