Edit HD but timeline playback in SD?

Hi All, I'm editing my first HDV project (720p). Noticing as I scrub the timeline and edit that the audio
doesn't link. Seems that it's just too much for CS4 to keep audio and HD video in synch.

Is there a way I can reduce the resolution of the timeline to possibly SD so that i can edit quickly
and keep audio in synch but yet export it out 720 still? Also, note, these are MPEG files. Also,
I did try draft mode but that didn't help. Also, note, I have a fairly fast Dell Studio XPS. thanks!

Not sure exactly what problem you're having, but it's not because CS4 can't handle HD. The problem could stem from many, many reasons, including your hardware specs.

Under the Preview window, the button with the three colored circles will give you the playback quality options.

Steve,
What did you use to record the audio? Hardware like the h4n tends to drift and you need to compensate in post by speeding it up slightly (say 4%).

Yes, I did click those and tried automatic and also draft, neither made any difference though unfortunately.

audio was in camera - the JVC GY-HD250 Camera. Isn't there some setting w/ Premier where like I can scrub in a very low res timeline but export in hd?

Also, something i just noticed, if I move to a new point in the timeline, I see in the bottom right of the screen - ' conforming xxxx.mpeg ' and a little yellow line fills up after a few seconds.
