edit 60i footage on 24p timeline?

I know nothing!

I have a project where I'd like to edit 24pa footage together with 60i footage.
I know I can capture the 24pa footage to a 60i timeline, but I am an idiot and I already captured a whole bunch of 24pa footage to a 24p timeline.

I was wondering if I can capture 60i footage and add it right to the 24p timeline, or if I should recapture the 24pa stuff to a 60i timeline.

I suck at this. Trying to learn.

Thank you.

There's no capturing "to" any timeline. There's just capturing. VidCap takes the data bit-for-bit as-is from the tape and doesn't do anything to it -- doesn't remove pulldown, doesn't convert frame rates, nothing.

So the footage you have is exactly what you'll get no matter how many times you capture it, and whatever your project settings are whenever you do it. VidCap doesn't pay attention to any of that. (You don't even need to have Vegas open to capture.)

All the footage captured is 60i in an AVI wrapper. Vegas removes 24p and 24pA pulldown on a 24p timeline only. Otherwise, the footage is 60i.

If you want to mix the footage together and keep the 60i stuff looking like 60i stuff, then edit it all on a 60i timeline. If -- and ONLY if -- the 24pA stuff looks extra-stroby, take that footage, put it on a 24p timeline, and export back out as 24p DV with 2-3 (NOT 2-3-3-2) pulldown -- then put it on the 60i timeline. But ONLY if the original footage looks extra stroby. Don't make it more complicated than it has to be.

If you don't mind the 60i footage being converted to 24p, then edit on a 24p timeline.
