Edge Of Tomorrow

First he rips off Moon with Oblivion, now Source Code with this. What's Tom Cruise got against Duncan Jones?

It looks awfully teal and orange, but I'd like to see it. Star Ship Troopers is a classic. This doesn't remind me of that at all.

Definitely Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day.

I wish someone would actually do Starship Troopers the RIGHT way.

What do you mean the right way? Sure, it's not the book, but so what? A movie is not bound to be the exact words on the page. Stanley Kubrick drastically changed most of the source material he worked with, that doesn't mean his movies are inherently bad.

Personally I think the Starship Troopers movie (first one, the sequels are terrible) is a brilliant and biting satire.

As for Edge of Tomorrow, it looks interesting. Not sure the concept is enough to hold it together, but i'll see it since Liman is directing, Bourne Identity being one of my favorite action films.

Agreed. I was surprised actually. Cruise gets on my nerves sometimes but this outing was actually pretty good. Kinda predictable ending though. Much better than Oblivion.

I thought the trailers looked horrible and I had no plans to see it but so many people were saying how good it was that I went anyway. Overall I thought it was okay and if I had to do it over again I'd wait until it was out on DVD/streaming.

I thought it was quite good. Would have enjoyed a better look at the shape-changing alien invaders, but that wasn't the intent I suppose.

I agree that its Star Ship Troopers meets Ground Hog Day. Maybe a little bit of a zombie movie too in the sense that the alien's deadly characteristic seems to be persistence and overwhelming.

Great FX, but not a lot of plot. Perfect for 15 year olds. Often a movie cuts out a lot of plot due to time constraints so I read the book. There's no additional plot in the book. A bit like Transformers, all crash and bang.

Isn't the book called, "All You Need is Kill?"

:D

I usually wait for movies to come out on VHS so I'm always behind, but recently saw this and I think this is actually Tom Cruise's best movie, ha.

Figured everyone would hate it on RT as I pretty much like everything but surprisingly it's @ 91% Tomatometer (respectable 325 reviews) and 90% audience.

The science fiction isn't for everyone, but really incredible editing and soundtrack/design and TC's performance is amazing, especially in the scene below.
