Has anyone else experienced low audio levels from an ECM-NV1 shotgun mic? I have one that I think came with our Sony DV camera, but I'm using it with a preamp these days. I'm powering it with 48v, but I have to crank the gain (both input and output) all the way up to get a decent level out of it on my ART TubeMP preamp. Same thing plugging it into an HVX200, phantom powered: have to turn the level up all the way to get anything out of it.
I would think if the mic were dying, I'd get distortion or something instead of this reduced audio level... Not sure if I've damaged it, should replace, or what? Can anyone else offer their experience/advice?
