ECM-674 Replacement

Hi everyone! My trusty ECM-674 broke last night and I'm looking for a replacement. It lasted me 10 years(maybe more, can't remember when I bought it) and I've seen them available for very low prices online, but it seems a little silly to me that I'd buy the same mic I got 10 years ago when I'm sure there have been huge strides in shotgun mic builds. Can you suggest a comparable replacement? I do use phantom power, so that's important.
I shoot a lot of theatre and dance shows. Sometimes I can get a feed, but more often it's small, fringe-type theatre so I have to rely on the shotgun mics getting all of the sound and I can be as far as 20-50 feet away from the stage. Although there's some background noise(A/C, audience chatter, etc.), I found my ECM's recordings to be acceptable considering my shooting situations and clients rarely complained. So I'd love something that has a similar capacity. Thanks very much.

Wow, that's an antique! Assuming you are talking camera mounted mic, the Audio Technica AT875r is a cheap and effective on camera mic with great resistance to handling noise and sound quality that punches way above it's price.

That's true. If you need a battery powered mic, your choices are much more limited. I assume your camera provides phantom power?

I've had a ECM 672, since the late 80's and it still works (AFAIK), though I did have to dissemble it twice because the XLR socket set screw had a tendency to loosen up. The second time, I added a drop of thread locking compound. It spent most of it's life on top a BetaCam dockable system. I'm glad I was not the cam op, because it weighed 25-30 pounds, depending on batteries, Sungun and Lectro 185 wireless receivers. It also cost about $60k.

It would be hard to deny that at this point, I'm a Audio Technica fanboy. As my mic locker has grown, I've ended up with various models. Seems like they always hit a sweet spot for me. The 875 is a good for the price short shotgun which if you must, is a good option for camera mounting. The AT-897 is a very similar sounding shotgun but longer and thus more directional and has a battery powered phantom option. And IMHO sounds better than the similar in feature Rode NTG2.
