Ebay linked bank vs linked credit card?

I want to sell some stuff to raise money. Haven't used Ebay much. Got ripped off once in 7 transactions, years ago.
Is is safer to link paypal to a credit card for my protection than to my bank where they can just take my money if the buyer lies and files a bogus dispute?

Paypal is always on the buyer's side, so if the buyer declares an issue the money will disappear faster from your account than even your bank would manage.

On the plus side, it may encourage more buyers to bid as its deemed more secure.

Seller beware, check out the buyer's history and feedback before dispatching anything. Also, record serial numbers of all gear being sold with detailed pictures to prevent the old "It arrived and did not work" as a fraudelent buyer may swap your unit for an defective one.

Years ago, I had PayPal setup with what was supposed to be a method to ONLY deposit money to my business checking account via ACH for items I sold on Ebay. Hackers from Hungary somehow figured out a way to hack into the account via the ACH "doorway" and removed $4,500.00 from my account. PayPal was completely and utterly useless during the entire process, bank investigation, I had to get our State's District Attorneys office involved to even speak with a human. They would not cooperate in the bank investigation, they did not care that through their irresponsibility, I was robbed of thousands of dollars. PayPal would not close down my PayPal account and it took six more months and the threat of legal action to get them to even close down my PayPal account. PayPal/Ebay can rot in Hell, I will tell of my experience for as long as I am alive, hopefully they will eventually go out of business someday due to multiple class action suits. They do not give a crap about their customers. Friends don't let friends use PayPal or Ebay.

That is shocking!
Did you ever recover the money?

I avoid Paypal. I've had bad experiences with them. I've stopped using them as a buyer as well. I don't need anything from anybody that only takes Paypal.

Thanks for the input, guys.
I have some die cast cars and Dukes of Hazzard R/C cars that I probably cannot get much for locally but on ebay I see them selling for significant amounts. Last time I needed to raise money I got burned and lost money on ebay. What other alternatives are there for selling items?

That's the frustrating part, after a lengthy investigation, my bank replaced the money in my account that was stolen. But this took weeks, I bounced several checks and it is the policy of all of the banks to NOT tell you anything, about if the perps were ever caught or prosecuted for their fraud. The bank cannot and will not tell you anything. We had to close all six of our accounts with the bank and re-open all new accounts, it made my life a stressful nightmare for about three months. Then, about a year later, a similar thing happened, except the ACH transactions came from another bank that I bank at. Same end result, several thousand dollars of my money stolen via ACH. But that episode had nothing to do with PayPal, while the first one did. It's so frustrating when your bank won't tell you what happened, how it happened and if the criminals were ever caught.

My son's debit card was skimmed at a gas pump a few weeks ago, he just went through the same thing, they stole about $400.00 cash out an ATM with his number, the bank just replaced the money and issued a new card, he's 18, a great way to be welcomed to adulthood. It's really difficult to know if your card is being skimmed at a gas pump, there are often no visible signs, the criminals even paint and distress the skimmer so it matches the weathering on the pump. From what I am told, they can be a hundred yards away with binoculars or a long lens and easily pick off your PIN number if you aren't using both hands to cover up the numbers you push. All of this digital crime has replaced traditional robberies, so much lower risk for the criminals. We are all collectively paying billions of dollars to banks and credit card providers for when they have to replace stolen funds.
