Eating a big object.

So...we have a scene where a man pulls a polaroid picture out of his mouth. We planned on shooting it in reverse and just having him put it in his mouth, but he'd have to fold it in order to make it fit.

The polaroid isn't super large, but it's big enough to where he can't put the whole thing in without folding it, and we really want it to be un-folded.

Any suggestions on ways around this?

Thanks in advance.

Do some practice takes of your actor pulling 3x5 cards out of his mouth. Watch the mechanics of the hands on the takes as he pulls it out. Practice putting a card into the mouth with the exact reverse mechanics.

Then have your actor eat a polaroid the same way. Reverse the take, and 'voila!' you have your take. If the actor starts with a straight polaroid, in the reverse it will end up unfolded. Cut to a new scene when the reversed shot ends. It will be really funny!

There is something like this in Troy Ruff's Impossible Race that is absolutely hilarious!

Your response really doesn't address the problem we are having. We know how to shoot it, we just are having the physical problem of putting the whole polaroid in his mouth without folding.

We don't want any folding at all, we just want to have him pull the whole thing out of his mouth. The problem is that it just won't fit, so I was wondering if there were any sort of post-production tricks around this.
