I'm shooting a spot that is silent movie inspired, and wrote a scene where a husband looks under a car hood and get a face full of black soot. I was going to put the soot flying into his face in post (of couse), but wanted to shoot my actor with his face completely covered with with black soot, then he takes off his glasses and only his eyes are clean (ha-ha).
Any suggestions on what kind of black make up or black "stuff" I can buy so we can quickly cover our actor's face, yet would be rather easy to clean off? - for his benefit
