Easiest way to remove an object

What's the easiest way in Vegas to remove an object from the screen? an example (my problem) would be a mic in the top right corner of the screen.

depending on how far it is reaching into the screen the easiest way is to use the crop function. If it is several inches in the frame then you will end up losing significant resolution using this method.

the hand/pole comes in and out of the shot for a couple seconds. Im not really worried, because im editing in a lot of close ups, but for a few of the wide shots the hand is in the shot...

cropping isnt an option because of where the head of one of the people is located, so im guessing a black mask of some sort, but im a FCP guy who switched to Vegas, so i have no clue in how to mask something. or possibily a blur of some sort? im also not worried on if the final product has a "weird" object in the shot.

Is the shot static?

By the way, the easiest way to remove an object from a shot it to move it before you hit the record button.... but obviously that isn't going to work here.
:)

if the shot is completely static you can create a mask in Photoshop and lay it over the shot (i've done that numerous times with some very good results).
This shot seems easy enough as you would just have to clone the wall to over the pole/hand in the corner.

Of course if it's a moving and/or handheld shot, then it's a bit tougher.

its definatly a static shot. so the photoshop way, just like in every other nle program, is the easiest way? I wasnt sure if Vegas had a built-in masker.

Any suggestions for a program that can "erase" things like this, or strings from pulley systems?
