Easier to synch 30i or 24P footage?

I would assume if you record 48Khz audio, it would be easier to synch external audio to video running at 24P vs 30I or 60I. Not to knowledgeable on this topic, so any insights would be appreciated...thanks.

No difference. They all run at the exact same speed, so the number of frames per second isn't going to make a difference, both the audio and video will be running at a precisely-governed clock rate so they should all sync up exactly the same.

Thanks for the response Barry, but I don't think I presented my question correctly...I am recording audio on and external Solid State recorder at 48Khz and was wondering if 24P footage would be easier to sync the audio to compared to 30i?

Re: Easier to synch 30i or 24P footage?

the answer still the same ,the ntsc 23,96 p:29.97p, and 59,94i ranning exacly the same 60 fiels
if you transfer the the data to treu 24 on film composer so then it be less acurate to synk since you have less fields (frams),
if you are running double system and run tc on the audio recorder run 29.97 or 23 .96 ( if you have deva or similar)and not 24 or 30 tc fps

Is it possible to remedy the sync issue in Vegas 5? Recording 2:3:3:2 and removing the pulldown later. From what i have read/heard 24PA is the hardest material to sync when pulldown is removed.

There is no sync issue. As Oleg said, 24P, 24PA, and 60i are all running at exactly the same 59.94Hz rate. Recording an external audio file will sync with any of these formats in exactly the same way. It makes no difference.

Sorry, was talking about the incam sound recording whoops...
Or does the same go for the internal ?
Thanks guys.

Re: Easier to synch 30i or 24P footage?

On the 100A there is no sync issue at all, all formats record audio in sync.

On the original 100 the 24P audio was recorded a couple of frames in front of the video, and if the sync error was noticeable to you you had to shift the audio by two frames in post. Not much of a big deal, the camera was on the market for six months before anyone even noticed it. But that's been fixed in the 100A (at the expense of introducing the famous 24P "echo" in the headphone jack).
