I have a scene where the actors feet are walking past the frame and as he walks by the ground has to appear like it's trembling, like an earthquake. Any ideas or plug-ins that anyone has used for this effect? The sound effect works wonders, but I still need to have it 'shake' a bit. Thanks!
 
Here are 2 options you can try.

1. Select your clip. Go to the Motion Tab, Start with ROTATION and set a beginning and a end Keyframe. Number should be Zero. You can do the same for SCALE and CENTER to help with the effect.

2. By using your right arrow key, move the playhead over 3-4 frames. Place another keyframe which should be 2. Move the playhead a little more and place another keyframe, try -2. Repeat this process of adding a 2 or -2. For more of shake look from an explosion you may need for than 2 like 4 or more. Just remember to add the negative of the same number to get the look you want.

Other option is:

Select your clip. Export just the clip. Save it. Open up iMovieHD, import the new clip you just saved. In the Effects pane in iMovie there is something that is called Earthquake or explosion. You can adjust the settings right in iMovie.

When you get it the way you want. Save it then import that file back into FCP and everthing should be cool!
 
Glad I could help! Actually a friend of mine just showed me that a few weeks ago! All this time I have had iMovie and never used it! LOL!
