The internet is a big place, but for all my searching I can't find a single review for this fluid head.

The price is right ($400), it seems to have finer counter balance than others at this price (5 steps) and the weight is great too (3.5-4lbs).

Can anyone comment on its quality?

Here's one:

E-Image is a weird brand in that they make gear in a wide range of prices. They have a head that's $3500. Couldn't see myself buying it if I was in that price range for a pro head when I have better brands with better repuations to choose from.

Also, they're an Ikan sub-brand. Seems that much of Ikan's strategy is to buy from other manufacturers and then slap their label on there, point being that you may be overpaying for a generic product. Don't know if that's the case with this E-Image line, but caution might be good.

Then again, it's only a few hundred dollars we're talking about, so not the riskiest move either ;)

Nice one hoju, thanks. I'll get in touch with the reviewer to get some more detail.

$400 ain't a lot, but with shipping and our crappy dollar, getting it right gets more important.

Oh, and + 1 rep for your avatar :)

I had a chance to look at the E-Image tripods at NAB this year. I had never heard of them before, but I was pretty impressed by what I saw. Good build quality, smart design. I can't speak to durability, but for the price, I'd give it a try.

Seems Benro will soon release a new head, the S7. The weight is perfect for me (1.4kg), payload is 7kg and it has stepless pan/tilt drag. Given the positive response the (too large for me) S8 has received, it seems I'll be waiting...

Edit - thanks Stephen. If the S7 wasn't around the corner I'd run with that recommendation.
