DXA-SLR problems

So I'm renting a DXA-SLR and attached it to my Canon T2i/550D. It's all plugged in, in the right spot and it sounded great through headphones when the wireless mic was attached to the actor. But when I viewed the footage when done, the wireless mic sound did not go through. Instead it was just sound from the camera it self. Anyone have any idea why this could be?

Didn't you check it before you attached it to the actor?
Bad socket , the plug was not deep enough to disconnect the internal mic , bad sound education

The headphone output on the Beachtek can only tell you what sound is passing through that device. One of the great problems with DSLR video is that you can't hear the sound that's being recorded inside the camera. What's going on inside the Beachtek and what's going on inside the camera could be two completely different things.

It seems the output cable from the Beachtek did not make a good connection with the mic input on the camera. This is why shooting double system with an external audio recorder is a good idea.

The thing you really need to do is to shoot some test footage with your rig, then load it into a computer and check out the playback with headphones. Always try to make two copies of the audio when you shoot. While not ideal, what I would have done is plugged the Beachtek into the mic input on the camera, and then plugged the headphone output into the line input on a portable digital recorder. This way when you shoot if one of the audio connections screws up somehow, you have a backup running.

Yeah, turns out it was the XLR to stereo plug that didn't work. Swapped it out with another and it worked.
