DVXusers! What fuels your fire?!?!

Hey Everyone! I was thinking here at Dvxuser.com we are all into cameras and editing, so I was wondering how people felt about cinema itself. Was motivation for buying your DVX or other camera from a passion for films and filmmaking? Or does it stem from something different. Perhaps a motivation to create documentaries, broadcast television, music videos/commercials, family footage, or another possible passion involving motion picture? I love films myself and dream that one day I’ll be able to make whatever I wish, and recognize those filmmakers I idolize 8)

I'm not sure what an "extremist" is in this context . . . could mean a lot of things. It could be a filmmaking perfectionist, or could drive a man to say that you "don't deserve to be holding that camera." What did you mean?

:D

I was hesitant to selct extremist and then I was like "Am I a militant filmmaker with radical ideals?" but it was too late. I am a Film Cultist.

In real life I'll say things like “Let's re-shoot this scene and this time lay off the anger“ or ”Damn we need a softer light on you, you look like ****“. Of course the target of these phrases gives me a “WTF” look. (My longer term friends understand I'm a freak and are used to it).

It's pretty much just levels of how 'into cinema' (films/movies) you are.
With extreme being the max level, beyond normal moviegoers

I am a film fanatic since I was 8 years old. The first film I saw was 'Big Boss'. Before that, I wasn't much into films, but that just caught my attention. I just wanted to watch every action movie. Now, I watch pretty much everything.

It has been a while since I saw a good horror movie or a thriller. I really love this kind of movies.

Nowadays, films are just visual effects. They forget to concentrate on the story.

All the best

Fidel.

For me, it's all about storytelling. I was writing short stories in elementary school, and filmmaking is just a different way to tell stories. Story and character development comes first; all the technical stuff comes later.
