DVXuser DVD

Re: DVXuser DVD

Ok, I've been wondering this for a while. What the hell do IMO and IMHO stand for?

Also, yes that would be cool.

I think that people should donate the footage. There should be a minimal profit, it should either go to Jarred, for having this great site, or saved up to buy another server, because we're gonna keep growin kiddos. Just MHO (is it okay to take out the "I"? This is why I don't do the anagram thing, I'm not good at it.)

Re: DVXuser DVD

John count the stars! . . .

. . . pofit . . . what profit, I think the dvd sale price should cover production costs, footage have a bottom right hand dvx watermark to protect against piracy and all project to be on the dvd donated as far as I am concerned. If there is any profit margin, well let Jarred put it to good use. Maybe it could help with hosting costs . . . . or would also be cool to finance the screengrabs / upload section with streaming support, but I doubt that profit is a problem and if we do make the millions. . . . well then we would regroup. :P

Re: DVXuser DVD

Piracy? Wha?

Is there a large market for piracy of short miniDV films? And if there is rampant piracy, how does that harm the filmmakers, other then by providing free publicity and exposure?

I'd be easy to order up a batch of limited run DVD's, the shorts contracted for a non-exclusive limited issue, with all proceeds to fund DVXUser.com...(thus funding us).

Re: DVXuser DVD

I think this is a great idea! We'll be the only ones buying the DVD, but it would be great to submit works and see what other people are doing too!

This is kind of like the Mindcandy DVD, which is a masterwork of PC demo captures.

I bought the Mindcandy DVD some time ago because it was done by a fellow Matrox RT2500 user. I trot that thing out every once in a while just to see the pretty images. Let's do the same!

I think you would be amazed at the possibel munber of silent onlookers/guests that keep an eye on the productions posted here . . . maybe jarred has a few stats that could back this up or not.
