DVXUSER - 10 years this year?

And in all sincerity Barry, I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for this forum and you!
Thank you sir!!!!

Jarred and I were members on a forum called 2-pop.com, and the DVX was coming up frequently. It was released in October of 2002 and was really catching people's attention. I was posting a hundred times a day trying to answer every question I could, and Jarred looked at the situation and said -- why don't I make a forum specifically for this camera? And the rest, as they say, is history.

Ten years, a hundred thousand members, probably 20x that many guests, and 2.6 million posts (me being responsible for nearly 50,000 of 'em!). We've fought the 24p vs 60i wars, seen the introduction and flameout of HDV, we're veterans of the war between tape and tapeless, the rise and fall of JVC, the fall and rise of Sony, the CinePorter, we were the birthplace of the Red cinema camera movement (RedUser started here as a subforum of DVXUser, and then was split off into its own forum), we've seen the rise and fall of the 35mm lens adapter (Cinemek, anyone?), the DSLR movement from inception to insane adoption to its current state, we've seen the rise of the large-sensor camera, the complete implosion of the 2/3" broadcast camera market, the YouTube revolution, the conversion from SDTV to HDTV, we've seen codecs go from DV to HDV(1) to HDV(2) to DVCPRO-HD to XDCAM-EX to MPEG4/AVC and MJPG and RedRaw and now a $345 totally-uncompressed recorder... we've held dozens of totally free film festivals and given away literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, and the founder of DVXUser is now the president (aka "Fire Chief") of Red Digital Cinema.

It's been a hell of a 10 years.

Well said.

Now what is that damn clunking sound in my camera....?!

The o.g. mods really made this place, and continue to sustain it with the help of an awesome new generation of folks.

We're far from perfect, and I could certainly work on being more productive, but I am personally humbled to be in the company of the extremely knowledgeable, talented, and generally awesome group of folks who take the reins of this site on a daily basis, and have done so for going on 10 years, now. It's the people that make the place.
