DVXFest actress releases first CD :)

Hey... I just wanted to share this news. One of my dear friends (who some of you might know as the actress in my dvxfest entry "Remember When", and writer/singer of the song in that film) Tori Lee just released her first CD. From what I understand, it was a collaborative effort, and very "organic" kind of process as far as arriving at the final sound... She wrote and sang all songs on the album, as well as played some guitar, piano, etc... Her husband also performed some of the instruments along with the rest of their band.

The album is called "Mayview Road: Always Now" (group name is mayview road, album name is always on) and it's available in physical and/or digital versions from quite a few places including amazon, itunes, amazon, cdbaby, digstation, zune, emusic, etc.

It is a straight up and true indie effort.

I purchased the mp3 album off of amazon for 8.99

It is a bit raw, but (to me) it kinda gave the feeling of sitting in a small venue listening live. I classified it as primarily bluegrass-y/country with a fairly healthy dose of some jazzy, bluesy sounds mixed in.

Also, a full version of the song that was in "Remember When" is on the album.

anyways, I just wanted to share this with anyone who might be interested here, so as to support one of my close friends (my real friends I can count on one hand) and there were some people who had asked me about that song back in the day, so...

16 tracks. about 55 minutes worth.

There are quite a few songs on there that I quite like, actually... but, I may be a bit biased :)

She has a nice voice. Pretty relaxing music.

'To wake up with you', with the rhythm, chord changes and snare brushing reminds me of something the 'Bare Naked Ladies' might do.
Kind of my favorite so far. A few more to go yet. The album seems a little under produced which can be a good thing. I guess 'raw' was the word you used, seems about right. Pretty good.

'Walking Away' sounds pretty good too. They're all pretty good actually.

//Edit:

Accordian would have sounded good in 'Waiting for the Light to Change' ala Tom Waites. Personal preference.

'Waltzing' is a nice song. Reminds me a bit of the song 'Mr. BoJangles' by Sammy Davis (way back) in a laid back way.
