I've seen/read posts that threw these 'model numbers' out, anyone ever heard anything about or like that? (or is that pure rumor-mill?)

Nothing so far states theres a replacement for the DVX100A coming out by Panasonic.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's (a) wishful thinking, (b) simple model progression math or (c) just pure bs (to help out in a totally flamed out thread)
I don't think the motivations there based on the competitive landscape currently and I don't think they want to completely tweak all of their users like some were when the 100A came out so quickly. Just curios.

Thing is, the mere fact that people are saying the XL2 isn't *that* much better than the DVX says it all. Current technology is as good as we can get, and for under $5000, a DVX-type camera is what we can get!

Just nonsense being tossed around... there's no factual basis to 'em, we were just talking about "oh yeah? Well, wait until the DVX200 comes out" kind of stuff, like "my dad can beat up your dad" playground talk...

Oh yeah, well wait until the DVX500C buddy, it's gonna have 7 CCDs and process color spectrums we don't even know about yet with 11 XLR inputs for orchestra recordings and... ;D
