its cheap and new. I trust the sellers in New Zealand as my freind Grant
( lonearcherfilms) bough his DVX100E from them and its working a treat.....

Question is though is the DVX102BE better then the DVX100A and if so why? Also is there any down falls, camera problems anyone knows about?

Heres a link to Globalmediapro in New Zealand

http://www.globalmediapro.com/do/product/1802/

They also have the DVX100AE for Price: AUD 3,460.00

Anyhow if anyhow could help me out with which is best id be gratefull. Thanks

102BE is the same camera as 100B. Different model name for different market. I would be careful though with globalmedia because it's parallel imported in NZ and as far as I've heard Panasonic doesn't service those cameras, ever. You will have to send it to Hong Kong if something goes wrong with it and that's not cheap.

Hi Michael, i've imported a few cameras over the past 3 years & here's some advice.

Firstly the AU$3600 price, is that inc shipping, GST & customs taxes? If not, add about another AU$600ish to the price.

Yes Global Media Pro are based in NZ but almost certainly their Panasonic gear is coming from somewhere in Asia which means your warranty isn't valid here in Oz. Not a huge deal.. unless you have a problem with the unit. Then most likely you'll have to send it back to Global Media in NZ or direct to where the model is from, ie Singapore/Hong Kong. You can buy extended worlwide warranties for about AU$300ish but check with your local camera repairer if they participate in the Mack Warranty Scheme as many service centres here in Oz will NOT service overseas models.

Also since they're most likely not shipping the camera from NZ but direct from Asia, dont expect it to be a NZ or Aust complient model.

Ask them more questions before you buy. They are a reputable seller from what i've heard so its unlikely they'd rip you off but they have no control over warranty & customs issues.

Hope this helps ya mate....

Parallel imported means they dont sell from NZ. They are genuine Panasonic products but thay are not sourced via the official channels. The cameras come from Malaysia and closest service centre that will touch that camera is Hong Kong.

YIKES!

Thanks guys. I do know the cameras ship from NZ though not from overseas. But i'll email tem tonigh to see what will happen if the DVX fails on me.

By the way if i do buy from Global media can i still get basic service and repairs done here in Australia? I do want to get a warranty but has anybody addedd there cameras to home and contents insuarance? I'll have to ring around.

Thanks again guys

You're in Australia right?... Isn't NZ classed as overseas?... You WILL have to pay the extra AU$600ish when it arrives into our shores...

Call your local reputable camera repairer & ask if they service them. You will have to pay them if it requires service if they're willing to repair it.

haha robert nice point.

i've been watching globalmedia prices for awhile too frued just waiting for the price to drop and am about to purchase from them also. its an extra $430aud on delivery but that is fine by me. also if purchasing multiple items i'd recommend doing seperate orders as each order that costs less than 1 grand you don't have to pay the gst/customs tax.

now the big question is which 35mm adapter to buy!

very nice idea Robert, will look into this. Heya Ben where in AUST are you from?

$430 is about right cause Grant, my buddy from Vic bought one and paid about that from the people who shipped the DVX100

I just bought my 102B 2 weeks ago. Panasonic has greatly reduced the price since the 200 came out. A local retailer here does export the set world wide, check them out at:

www.expandore.biz

Their prices are very competitive. The 102B comes with a soft case, an extra battery and 10 Pnasonic master DV tapes.
