i bet my penis is bigger than yours too.

Yeah...since that totally was appropriate for the conversation, when all I was doing is asking a simple question about who edited before computers. Calm down, jeez, do you feel you have something to prove?

Gosh, so many people on high horses here...qopting themselves in their own signature line, telling about how great they are because of their past editing history or how well they get paid, man...just have fun and love doing it. It doesnt matter if you get paid $100 a week, or $100 a minute! It shouldnt be about the money so not sure why you brought all that up or what you're trying to prove to me, I dont care...it isn't a competition.

Anyway, let's get back to this thread, the XL2 footage uploaded. No post-production done on the clips, just captured, chopped, exported.

you've got my head spinning, corusa. i attempt to knock you off your soapbox because of your condescending post about kids and computers that do it all for you, and how you have 10+ years of experience, and that you learned "real" filmmaking, blah, blah, blah...

THEN, you proceed to chastise me for doing the same? you couldn't detect the intended irony behind my one-upsmanship? i mean, who in their right mind would seriuously bring penis size into this? :)

What? O...K. Apparently I was totally misunderstood, because nothing of what you just said about me is really how i felt when i made my posts or how I mean the words at all. Time and time again the internet prooves how inadequate it is of expressing true feelings since so much is lost in translation. all we have is text, no tone of voice, or facial mannerisms, so anyway let's just call it a night (whatever the time might be there for you), since this is obviously just a miscommunication of what we are both or trying to convey. Cool. Nite.

Sorry to bring this up as I'm sure its been discussed before here, but I am trying to convince a production to switch from an XL2 to DVX100B, mainly because I hate shooting with the Canon.
Just on a technical level though, how do you think the picture & sound quality compare between the 2 cameras - sharpness, noise, audio quality, lowlight sensitivty, contrast etc.
Also won't the DVX give me a better wider all around versatile field of view for handheld reality type shooting?

The shoot is 4:3, 60i vanilla.

It might just be a matter of taste. The Canon gives a cleaner, sharper image. But the Panasonic gives a more natural, more "organic" look.

Canon footage always looks like video to me. Clean, well-shot video. But Panasonic makes skin tones that look like the people are actually living and breathing.
