DVX100b? Any NAB info?

Jan from Panasonic has said several times that the DVX100B will arrive sometime in September and there will be no difference at all in feature set; just a change in some of the materials used in construction to make it globally compliant with some environmental mandates (the ROHS initiative).

Bryan, you're right. I remember that now. I also remember Jan was wanting some other new features but that there probably wouldn't be any. We'll see!

I certainly hope there aren't any new features, seeing as how I just bought myself a DVX100A a few weeks ago!!

certainly, i'd trade in my old for the "lighter" B.

composite material. cool. hmm.. is that why the new hvx has that greyish plastic looking body?

i think if they p2'ed the dvx100B it would sell like hotcakes. not to mention most of us who's not getting the hvx will run out and sell our A's for it.

Well Jan has said that it would have two new things.....lead free....and a new color on the silver parts for sure.....just wondering what color the silver will be substituted for.....if it will be switched out for black...AWESOME! Jan also stated that she would give us official info on it the day after NAB...so where is it Jan

doubt there will be a new DVX... the HVX pretty much does everything the DVX does now and then takes it way beyond, I see the HVX kinda like being the DVX200.

I dunno, I could see a 16x9 DVX fitting nicely in the product line. I am just frustrated because I need a new camera now, not in October. Clearly the HDX at $5500 (?) is a better investment than the DVX at $3500.

Actually...$5.995 plus tax...bout $6,400 total...not to mention any accesories you'd like...it's basically double the price of the DVX...that is before the rebate ofcourse which puts the HVX at about $3,400 dollars over the DVX...i'm just wondering about the 100B because my gf's b-day is comin up n she's looking to try out film making herself. Wouldn't mind getting her the new model...long as it looks cool. If not...i'll just pick her up an A model! :)

List price is $5995, but we have to assume there will be street pricing after the initial rush dies down. Either compare SRP to SRP or make a guess, my guess (5500) was a few hundred bucks off the $5995 price. Tax is tax. My bet is about $2k to $2500 difference in street prices, which will put pressure on DVX pricing IMHO. Rebate will hopefully hang around. I would buy HVX over DVX at these prices.

Look at list prices for camera's....I've seen them a thousand dollars more. Look for the HVX to be $4,999.

Once again, wishful thinking. I Guarantee you won't find it for that price anytime soon, not even after a year. If it were in the $4.999 price range it would be waaaay to close to the DVX's price range...Panasonic wouldn't be that dumb.
