DVX100a UV filter installation, help!

Ok, I feel like an idiot for asking this, but here we go...
When I ordered my dvx100a, I also ordered a "general brand" 72mm UV filter. Now, after some attempts, I have no idea on how to install this new filter. Can I even use this UV filter on the dvx100a? Any comments, guides, websites would be great, thanks!

Yeah, it should just screw on the front of the lens.
Take off the lens hood to install it.
Make sure you do it carefully though, so you don't cross thread it.

Umm, you should be able to just screw it right onto the lens. That simple. I wouldn't even go as far as calling it an installation.

Yeah, but the thread on the filter is on the inside, while the only threading i've seen on my lense would work for threading on the outside of a filter. I've taken the lense hood off, and that is as far as I can get.

It's there on the inside too. Seems like I remember scratching my head a little over putting the filter on but it did go on.

So you're saying that your filter does not have threading on the back of it.
Then you got sent the wrong filter.
I didn't even know they made filters like that.

I did receive the Tiffen 72mm uv filter, I guess I'm just not doing something right. I take off the lense protector, and then there is the black matte with two tiny screws, do I have to take this off as well? I'll try it again tonight and see what happens. thanks.

Don't take off the "lens protector." It goes in front of that (in front of "Leica Dicomar"). You don't even need to take the Hood off. Just put your fingers inside the hood, and screw on the filter in-front of "Leica Dicomar."

Don't take off the "black matte" as you call it.
You don't need to.
It is a real pain to put back on.

lol. Nice CineAlta.

Yeah, installing a filter is as complex as putting the lid back on the peanut butter jar.
Geeez.

Sweet Success

Sweet Success

I successfully put on the filter last night, much to my excitement. Thanks for all the advice and whatnot. And I promise that I'm not as stupid as I sound, I was just making things more complicated than they should have been.
