DVX100A Step Down Rings?

Okay, I have two old (i mean from the 80's old) wide angle and telephoto adapter lenses made by sony. They were built im guessing for consumer cameras sometime in the 80's. They were my dads, and he had to use a 55mm -> 46mm step down to use these lenses.

I know that the dvx100a is 72mm and i was wondering if purchasing some step down rings would let me use these. I'd like some feedback on why or why not i might want to do this, or if there could be possible vignetting cos of the 72mm-46mm size change.

These lense adapters look pretty nice, i just want to mess with em if it's possible...

let me know....

the possibility of vignetting is 100%.  you would have to be zoomed in alot to avoid vignetting with that big of a step down.  but im sure if you were zoomed in alot you could use the adaptors. although zooming in  that much would probably negate the effect of the adaptors anyway .. unless its a tele or macro/achromatic diopter adaptor type thingemawhack.

..edit: another thing worth noting is that if they are consumer camera adaptors the lense quality is probably close to that of dirt, and i wouldnt expect you to get the cleanest imagery from them for any profeesional application unless you plan on masking the resulting horrible abberations, streaking and flare with heavy laiden effects of some type. ..a bit overexaggerated of course..im just saying not to expect the greatest quality. and ts probably not worth buying lense adaptors rather than looking into some suitable pro adaptors for 72mm lenses imho. but use what you got. if it fits the bill then it may yeild some creative possibilities you otherwise may not have had ;)

Neil, I 100% concur. I also have one suggestion: If these lenses don't have particular emotional value, you may want to melt the adges of the glass with a blowtorch, then add charcoal debri, and use it as an effects lens for special shots. You can also smear petroleum jelly on the surface to create dancing lights and fog effects. Those are things you could never do with an expensive lens. :D

that sounds pretty cool. you know of any sites that tell you or show you with photos of how to create lens effects? or that burning thing you're talking about?
