dvx100a or dvx100b

I did not mean, "You will no longer want to buy these cameras." I meant, "From these stores."

Wow, $1100 for a DVX, that's a hell of a deal. If you havn't checked the RESELLER RATINGS yet, I say go for it, and then let us know how your experience goes. . . . . . . :(

This is my favorite one by far... :)

DON'T BUY HERE!!!!! I ordered a Panasonic DXV 100B from CCI Camera City and was quoted a price of 2997.99. I called to confirm the order and they attempted to add on addition accessories plus an upgrade. I was told that this upgrade to a Panasonic DVC 30 would be better for what I was using the camera for. I told them the upgrade would be okay and the purchase was processed. Mind you the camera that I was going to purchase was more expensive then this "upgrade". I looked at the "upgraded" camera online and immediately called back and said I DO NOT want any upgrade, I want the camera that I had initially purchased. They said okay we will change it back. Upon reviewing my credit card statement I saw that I was charged 3,596.97. How could that be? My total price for the initial purchase was 2997.99 and if this so called "upgrade" which I had already stated that I did not want, was cheaper then my initial purchase where did the extra 598.98 come from. I called the company and tried to dispute it. A guy name "Peter" answered my call and I explained to him the situation. He continued to try to convince me that the Panasonic DVC30 was the camera that I wanted. WHAT THE HELL? How are you going to tell me what I WANT. He said just try it out and if you are completely dissatisfied we will issue you a full refund. I said I don't want to try it out. I'm not going to pay for shipping it back to New York. I live in Los Angeles. He said "don't worry, we will take care of you. If we need to refund it we will, just try it out and see if you like it" I said "I will deal with it when it gets hear." As soon as it arrived I didn't even open it. I told the post office to return to sender. I checked my credit card today to see if they had refunded the purchase and it said 3400.00. I called them immediately and asked why was the purchase not completely refunded? They said we took off for shipping. WHAT???? 196.97 for shipping that I originally paid 79.99 (I originally paid)and that you said that I "wouldn't have to worry about. I spoke to this same "Peter" who said that he never said that. "Why would I say that thats ludicrous. I can give you 50.00 back but thats it and if you keep complaining, you get nothing." I said "what, now I'm being lied to. I want my money back." He said "now you get nothing. I don't have time to deal with this." and hung up in my face. I attempted to call back but was put on hold for 10 minutes until I hung up and decided to dispute it with my credit card company. To my knowledge, this practice is something that is occurring regularly. After all of this happened I looked up the company reviews and every single one of them were VERY DISSATISFIED with their own story to tell. It turns out that this has been going on since 2001. Why are they still in business????

Does it matter? It's all a pack of lies, they'll never sell it to you for under $3000 no matter what they advertise.

Don't do business with liars and cheats and thieves. Because they'll lie to you, cheat you, and steal from you.

DO NOT buy from places like this! I did a long time ago and I got ripped off. Always check resellerratings.com and see what people say about the place. Oh, and I would reccomend the DVX100b. If you do not need timelapse, it is the best bang for the buck. Check out my screen grabs at www.strickenthemovie.com under media. They are all from the camera. Some of the pictured have a 35mm adapter on the front, but it is the same DVX100b under the adapter.

I joust bought my camera less than 2 months ago and spent two months shopping previously. Buy from a dealer,if you live in Canada buy in Canada!(I mention this because you listed a .ca site) There is a warranty issue if you buy your camera from a US dealer and you will have to send it to the US for repair., There are great prices available from good local dealers and in the long run service is worth it.

Looking to buy a DVX100B

Hi, all.

I'm a newbie when it comes to this kind of equipment and I got this comment from broadwayphoto.com about the DVX100B:

"The AG-DVX100B is the most recent version of the Panasonic 24-frame standard definition video camera. When initially introduced, the AG-DVX100 (pre-A model) was the first small video camcorder to offer film-like 24-frame per second recording. High-end shoulder mount cameras offer film-speed recording, but the operation of one of these cameras requires a large production crew and oodles of money."

If this is true, does it take also more than a handful of people to operate the DVX100B?

Greatly appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Only takes one or two people on the cam, add one or two for sound, add one or two for grip, add one or two for etc etc etc. I also heard broadway photo was a chop shop?

Don't be some scumbag's easy mark. Buy from reliable sources. You're going to pay a certain amount for a new DVX100B, around 2800 after rebate on the bottom end. Anything below this is a scam as of the date of this post. Also.. it might be a good idea to shop used DVX's at this point, lots of people are dumping them cheap for HD. Lot's of good deals out there. If you do buy a new one, go to newegg.com. They're fast, great price, warranty is good, rebate is good. Got my check in 6 weeks, book and DVD in 4 weeks.

The camera is the MOST important part of filmmaking. Buy from an authorized
dealer. The rest of the crap you buy you can get on Ebay.
