dvx100A for $2449? is it worth it?

Looking to finally buy my dvx100. Then I found that www.expresscameras.com is selling the A for $2449. When I called I found the catch. It doesn't come with:

- battery
- charger
- cables
- software
- remote
- manual
- mic holder
- mic adapter
- straps
- lens cap
- 1 yr man warranty

So my question is: Is it worth it? They sell the factory kit for $3195. The only thing above that I think would bother me is the battery, charger, mic holder, warranty and possibly the mic adapter(what is this?). But I'm pretty sure I'd be able to buy those elsewhere.

Please offer your advice. If this doesn't work out, I'm probably going with the 100 since I have other stuff to buy (quality tripod, etc.) and a limited budget.

Also, would the A be worth the extra money in your opinion?

Thanks 'loser ( I feel so mean saying that.. ). So in your estimation, I need to stick with the 100 from a reputable source? Is the A worth the extra $900 or so I'd have to spend?

..sorry for the cheapo cliche answer here, but i guess its cliche for a reason.. i cant tell you wether the features on the "A" model will be worth it for you or not. you need to review the differences between the two, and take a look at what your doing , and decide "do i really need these features" or" do i really really want these features".. and then decide how much your willing to pay to get them. think about how much would you spend if you had to buy another unit that you added one and did these things. if its under 900.00 the answer is no.. its not worth it for you really in the end the 100 is capeable of everything the 100a is, and its all up to the operator to make anythiing happen with either of them.
i personally have yet to sell my 100 for an "a" model, with no plans of doing so at this time. :)

lol john. ! i would just like to take a baseball bat into each of these nasty places, and bash the heck out of their phone system, and web server, while screaming " blah! blah! chicken pot pie ..doo wickicky doo!!" or somthing similar anyway. id want to be dressed up as a big butt too.. yeah, definitely a butt.

Thanks for both of your replies. I guess my questions on the 'A' come down to:

- I want to shoot widescreen (who doesn't?). Is the A's in-camera 16x9 a replacement for the adapter? That would be the price difference right there.
- I kind of like the idea of having the knee adjustment. But being an amateur, I'm looking for advice: Is it THAT beneficial? I know I'm no lighting pro.
- Do the new glass and prism noticeably affect the image quality? So far from what I've been reading, no.
- Is focusing enough of a problem to warrant the EVF DTL sharpening in the A?
- Since I don't know when I'll be able to buy a focus assist set-up, is the new feel of the drag a huge difference in ring focusing?

Thanks again for any advice. Hopefully I'll have one of these babies in my hands before the weekend.

the knee helps yes-
no focusing is not an issue for anyone with good eyes-
the in cam 16:9 mode called "stretch" is excactly the same as cropping the letterbox footage of the dvx100 , and strching it to fill the frame. only the a does it in camera. no it does not replace the adaptor. the adaptor optically goves you a 20% wider picture, and squeezes that onto the entire 4:# chip. squezze mode is just the image from letterbox streched tall to fill the 4:3 output. either one will then expand to fill a 16:9 project in the end. but your obviosly dumping resolution with the strecth mode.
most people cant tell the difference in the focus ring

again the "a" wont give you anything that the 100 is not capeable of .

the a basically just automated some of the things that you would have to do manually with the 100, and added the gain up in progressive mode (for shooting crappy unlit footage in the middle of the night with no lighting.....special..) and it also took care of a few quirks of the 100. if i were buying one new today, i would probably get the "a" just cause i would want the newest thing out, but if i were budgeted. i woudl want to get  whatever was going to fit the bill best, and allow me to get everything i needed. cause you cant make films with a camera alone!
