DVX100A Filters

Hi helpful hardware folks :-)

Sorry for all these questions!! (I just need alot of answers!!!)

I'm looking at getting a few 4x4 filters to go into the Cinetactics Filter Holders. I'd like a no-frills set of basic filters.

I'm thinking of getting a multicoated UV filter and polarizing filter. Any other suggestions for a basic filter kit? Should I get any ND filters to add to the two that are part of the DVX?

Suggestions for a low cost 4x4 multicoated UV filter would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: DVX100A Filters

Have you considered the threaded UV (HMC UV) ? I am not familar with the Matteblox and its workings with a threaded filter on but I would consider this for your lens protection.

I think a nice filter kit should have the following

Grad ND - Can you rotate using Matteblox?
Polorizer
Grad Sun
Grad Blue
Soft FX - I just like the way it makes the skin look; makes a person not so damn wrinkly!

Re: DVX100A Filters

Here's what I went with (NB: I am a rank beginner, so this was done with lots of advice and research, but no practical experience yet!)

72mm UV Filter (more for protection than anything else if it's solo)
72mm Soft FX 1/2

4x4 Polarizer (I do a lot of outdoor shooting and want "popping" colors)
4x4 ND .6 (See comment about outdoors!)

The screw-ons (72mm) I use one at a time, then add the 4x4s to the Cinetactics Matteblox (yes, you can rotate in 90deg increments with the cinetactics, but NOT total 360deg freedom) as needed.

First shooting looked QUITE nice, used the UV & Polarizer. Next time will add the ND and experiment with the Soft FX.

Hope it helps,

Thanks for the suggestions all!

Now to wait for the filters DVD to show up in the mail...
