DVX100A built-in, stereo mic?

Hello all. Newbie here. Anxiously awaiting my newly purchased DVX100A.

There appears to be a lifetime of information on these forums, but couldn't find answers to the following questions.

How is the DVX100A's built-in, stereo microphone as a wild sound option in ENG work? Is the optional AG-MC100G XLR mic worth the purchase for wild sound, or is it strictly unidirectional? What's the price range for this optional mic, and have most owners purchased it? Was anyone else disapointed the AG-MC100G mic was not included in the standard accessories? :(

Any help much appreciated.
 
Good Question Buck.. way back when the DVX100 was advertised with the mic, all photos showed the optional mic, and nobody knew it was an option, just assumed it was included, so yeah, alot of people where pissed. After they found out the mic was junk though, they got a little less upset.

The onboard mics are actually some of the best mics for onboard mics, but yes, your gonna wanna get something else. I use wireless Lavs, the G2's, and recommend you going that route. you can get the eng package that includes a shotgun/handheld mic module to make your normal mics wireless as well.
 
Thanks for the replys and suggestions. I too am less upset to hear the optional mic is junk. I will utilize the built-in mic for wild sound until I can affored a decent shotgun mic.
