DVX100a and DVX100b comparison...

This is something I would like to see (I apologize for the misleading topic).

I have had various answers to a question I've asked for awhile now, and was hoping for something straightforward, as opposed to an unsure response. Does the 100b differ from the 100a? I mean in the image quality. Because I've heard it slightly differs, that it's exactly the same, and that it's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (which I don't believe, but nevertheless).

Also, maybe getting some grabs from the cameras (shooting at the same things of course) would help sort this out.

[The reason I am creating this thread is because I am still trying to decide between the two cameras1]

Thanks!

I'd also be interested to see. I bought the 100a not knowing there was a "b" coming out... would like to find out what I'm missing!

You might want to give a thread more than an hour and a half before bumping it.

Well at least you've come to grips with it.

(totally joking.)

There's not a question at all -- the 100B is better, significantly better, nicer, friendlier, and did I say "better" than the 100A. The only fly in the ointment is if you just *have* to have interval recording. If you do, go for the 100A. If interval recording isn't vital, then the B is Better.

If you don't have to film too much, you could just straight record and then speed it upto 900% or so in post, huh?

Yep. I've yet to use interval recording, and all my time elapsed has just been using up to an hour's worth of tape.

Great! So I guess I'll be getting the 100b.

I AM looking forward to seeing side by side shot comparisons, in the future. I'll eventually want to get a second cam, and it will be a DVX100b if I KNOW it will exactly match the look of the 100a I've got ... otherwise I'll be getting another 100a.

not sure if this has been mentioned, but does anyone remember Jan saying that the only difference between the A & B was the colour and lack of lead in the B....

I don't know about anyone else, but i MIGHT have waited if i had known about the extra features of B, eg remote focus...
