My Question is the following:

I want to start making professional music videos, but what important accesories do i need for my panasonic dvx100a?
as far as lighting, and filters.
if anyone can help me with this question a would gladly appreciate it.
again thanx alot and godbless.

The first thing you should get is a must have!!!!!!! When you turn the camera off you should hear a sort of clonking noise. This is a major issue with the DVX100a and calls for the "anaheim-declonker 100a" which fixes this issue plus enhances the film look.

You can find one on EVS.com for about $75.

Damn. I didn't even know the Turbo was out yet. I thought they were going to debut it at NAB. I'm off to EVS!

Doesn't seem like clunking is an issue for him - he's probably had his DVX for some time and already got a hold of Declonker... So, what comes next?

You're saying you want to make professional videos... ok. Soon this thread will be filled with responses of 2 kinds:
1. Use Search
2. Get yourself a nice UV filter, bag/case, DVXuser batteries, fluid head tripod , shotgun mic, lighting kit, matte box, dolly, new girlfriend, etc, etc, etc...

But what do you feel you need for your videos?
Are you planning to have good sound? Get a good microphone, suspension, windshield, maybe mixer and maybe even recorder. Refer to Audio section for this.
Are you planning to only be shooting in available light? If not, then obviously you need some lights. That's what Lighting section is for.
What about the camera itself? Do you think you can throw it a trunk of your car as is or it's better to get something to carry it in? There are plenty of suggestions for good DVX bags in Hardware section. Do you need your shots stationary or you're going for a shaky handheld look? No? Get a tripod.
And so on...

Oh, and welcome :)

Geez just when I invested in it, technology advances and the Turbo is introduced... I'm calling to see if I can upgrade at a discount.

Thanks

i only have the dvx100a but i've seen pictures here on this forum with the same camara i have, but they look so "hollywood" with the lenses and all, so i was wondering are those accesories i really need to shoot music videos, if not what do i need? also the lighting, what kind of lights are good for in/outdoors shooting ? if theres a way anyone can help me with the question i'll truely appreciate it, again thanks alot and godbless.

You don't "need" anything if you're creative enough.

Do you have an editing machine? (pc/vegas mac/fcp)

You don't really "need" lights for exterior shots, just some white board or even white arts and craft board to bounce natural light with.

I bought a light kit for under $600 from rostronics.com. IMO they have excellent prices.

Do you have a UV protective lens? You'll need it just for simple caring of your DVX lens.

Tripod
Home made dolly
matte box
filters

There's just so many things that you "need" but then again don't really have to have in order to make a video.

I shot my first video all handheld with nothing more than a large sized piece of card board wrapped with reynolds wrap to bounce the sun light on the artist and it looked amazing.

you may want to look into getting some lens attachments for starters.
go to
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

and have a look around at some of the items that may suit what you need for a particular production. good place to start.. they have a huge catalogue.

hope you have a nice sized wallet. best of luck.

i sent my declonker back.. it wasn't working properly. had to pay a crappy 25% restock fee as well!

GRRRR, that just angers me. If it was defective then they should of gave you a replacement.

btw.. coffee is on it. if you got the cam, sunlight and a place to edit. go for it.

Ive always wanted to use the the big azden mics that u always see mounted on the anton bauer bats. but they are to big for the 100-b. i was wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to mount a box to the panny bats or any other ideas?
