ok, so i wanna use dvx100 as dv recorder only (with external camera) and it would be nice to make it smaller,

1. so is there a way to easily remove the viewfinder ; that is without breaking something?

---

2. unrelated to 1st question, whats the good way to power the camera in the car directly from the lighter?

tnx

I'll be happy to trade you my Panasonic PV-51 for your DVX. It is half the size and I'll even throw in a car adapter, DV cable and bag.

Smok, there's absolutely no reason to dismantle a dvx in order to make it a DV deck only. If you're thinking about using scene files, gamma settings, progressive and so on, I have bad news for you: they work only in camera mode. In other words, the settings apply to the signal coming from the CCDs ONLY. Dolby's idea is not that silly, you know...

PanasonicNZ: camera is used on all kind of projects, the 'dv recorder only usage' would be like 1% of 'her' work, but yeah i get it - it is maybe better to find a cheap field dv recorder (small&battery powered), any suggestions?

not a news to me, and you are completely off topic...
