Im dp for a music video my production team is shooting. We have a PD170 and a DVX100 at hand. Does the DVX100 shoot native or true 16x9? Im not sure with what we should shoot with...

also. We are new to 35mm adapters and are looking into what would be the best adapter to use for the 35mm prime lenses. We want this video to have a nice film look, and know its possible, but i am new to 35mm adapters and am unsure at what to get my hands on.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

1. The DVX100 is not true 16:9

2. Shoot 24p with the DVX100

3. Shoot Scope (4:3) and then mask in post

The adapters are many; I'll let someone else chime in on that!

The DVX100 does not offer true 16x9...it has "squeeze" mode which is a digital manipulation of the image to achieve a widescreen look. This process results in a significant loss of resolution. There is an anamorphic adapter available that will give you the highest resolution possible when shooting for widescreen with the DVX.

As for 35mm adapters, there are so many, and in so many different price ranges...I would do a search throughout the forums.

Edit...John beat me. But he didn't use fancy words like "resolution" and "manipulation."
