hey all, i just picked up my dvx100 2 weeks ago. im stoked EXCEPT no one seems to be able to help me from start to finish using premier pro 2.0 can someone help me create a DVD with settings etc. PLEASE. ive searched for hours, i may be searching for the wrong thing though. thanks

Capture... edit... Export to DVD... just make sure your project settings and export settings are correct for the footage you are working with (24p, 30p, 60i, whatever you shot).

thats what i dont think i understand completely. is there something that i need to do to the footage once captured. i understan premier, i just dont understand or know(if there is any) special way of working with 24pa in premier. and then how do i export to get it too a dvd. thanks guys you rock

Harsh (sorry) but I suggest you do not know or understand Premiere Pro and sometime spent with the manual and the help files will get you started. Then you can ask questions that we will be able to help you with.

open premiere
start new project
choose dv 24p
capture footage
edit footage
export using adobe media encoder for dvd
choose burn function after export and yorue done

thank you and merry xmas...

Capture footage, open a 24p project using one of the 24p presets. Edit your footage. When you're finished editing, export a 23.976 progressive MPEG-2 file for Encore, or whatever your DVD authoring program is. If you're exporting directly from Premiere to DVD, just select export to DVD, then adjust your settings. Again it should be progressive, 23.976, MPEG-2. For larger projects I would choose a 7mb VBR, for smaller projects I would use a 7.5mb CBR. Now get cracking.

Edit- Saturnin beat me, and that ruined my Christmas.

what if i want to make a quicktime file. i tried this and the final is HORRIBLE. this gives me some more help. i guess for some reason i thought more steps were involved. is this the same thing i would to in after effects.

for quicktime you have to export the file as DV AVI and then use another software such as Canopus Pro Coder or Quicktime Pro to convert it to quicktime. The Adobe media encoder gives pretty bad results, yeah, in Premiere
