Hi - for some reason when I plug the camera into the Firewire port, it is not recongized. Thus I can't print to tape or import. I have a SONY RX670 computer with XP professional. Any advise would be appreicated.
I also had the same problem, it was the onboard firewire ( texas instrument chipset ). You may consider adding a cheap PCI firewire card to solve the problem
Okay, try this : right click my computer, properties, device manager, hardware, show device by type, IRQ, then:
see if any device(s) share IRQ with the IEEE1394, if one does, right click, disable it(them) reboot
- Verify if your firewire card(or on board chip) is OSHI compitible.
- Verify that you have SP1 installed
- Verify that you firewire cable is no longer than 10ft, and it is have propely shielding and all connection working.
DVX100 using mini(4pin) firewire connector, most card using 6pin connector.
-For test purpses, be sure your external DV control is enable in DVX menu.
-Verify if you have no esclamation mark by firewire device name in device manager menu.
-Try to connect to other PC with windows XP, if it's not recognizing your DVX, check your camera with repear shop.
-If all of this is pass ok and you have problems to recognize, delete device from device manager menu and restart your computer. After restart it should detect firewire card and reinstalled software for it.
-Plug in camera and power on. Open your windows file manager. If you don't have icon Pnasonic camcorder (or something simular) display there, verify all connections. If it's display browse to it, verify that showing video streaming from camera.
If it doesn't show icon, most likely your firewire card is not working properly or incompatble.
I used a lot of different firewire cards, chipo and expensive ,and never had problems with detecting camcorders, exsept some of them (mostly sony) will requer to install additional drivers.
