DVX100 footage not flagged properly??

So I've been capturing all of my footage for my 23.98 edit at 29.97 per what i've learned in this forum. <<< DVX100 24pA footage should always be captured at 29.97 because that's what's on the tape. >>>

After I capture in the browser it says the 'vid rate' is 23.98 and the 'data rate' is 2.9 MB/SEC - which is all great and is working in my timeline. BUT there are a few tapes that I captured the same way that still show up in the browser as 'vid rate' 29.97 and have a 'data rate' at 3.6 MB/SEC - and these clips will not play in my timeline unless they are rendered but they still look strange after render with subtle/harsh horizontal lines...

So is it possible that these tapes were shot with this camera and the DP didn't have the 24PA 'swtich' on?? I have about 25 tapes and only about 5 have this problem. How do i make them work in my edit? I'm thinking about capturing them at 23.98 and dealing with it that way.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

NoahK ur awesome! I'm new to editing and ur advice has been very helpful. I'm doing a shoot next week with 2 Dvx100A and 2dvx100B and 2 lipstick cams which will be recording into either Sony dvx2000 or 2 decks and the audio is being recorded to protools hd. 1st question is what mode should we shoot in 24pA or 24p standard so that it will go on the same timeline as the lipstick cam footage. 2nd question is how can I sync all the dvx cams up with the protools. I'm going to try and use multicam editing too anything i should look out for? I do plan to read that chapter in the book lol but u seem like the Guru so I had to ask. Holla back thanks
