DVX100 Footage looks terrible

So I shot a short film with the DVX100 (original) in 24pA THIN resolution 4:3 mode directly to my friend's macbook pro. We remove pulldown. It looks crisp. It looks great.

I take those video files and move them onto a harddrive. I bring them onto a different Mac desktop. Open it up in FCP (older version). Timeline is 23.98. Look at it in preview. Footage is fuzzy and jagged.

I tried seeing if there was pulldown but FCP won't let me pick that option for the videos, so it's not that. We removed the pulldown from all the footage.

Is it just the preview making it look bad? Any ideas?

PS> When I imported the files into the new fcp project on this other Mac, I got a message saying some files weren't "optimized".

I'm really terrible at exporting things from FCP. What's the best way and highest quality to export 4:3 footage? I exported with quicktime and the heads are stretched.

Also- while I'm on how footage works and looks- I'm trying to remove pulldown from something that has pulldown and it's simply not doing it. I KNOW it has pulldown that hasn't been removed- and I get a message along the lines of "break in advance pull down pattern near t". Near "t"?? Bleh.

EDIT: To explain that last bit further, I shot two takes of the same thing right after the other, BOTH using 24pA, same framerate, same everything, yet FCP is telling me the second take is not encoded at 24 fps. Furthermore, the second take looks jagged in fcp preview while the first is not. WTF

Don't export. Take the ORIGINAL files you had captured and bring those to the new system. And also...look at the footage in the timeline. Look at the timeline. Is there a render bar over the footage? this means you need to render, which means that your sequence settings and clip settings don't match...and they need to. Exactly...

No, I exported to view it like the person who first responded to me recommended doing. I didnt export the clips to bring them to the new system.

It isn't a rendering problem either. I don't think the problem is the independent clip quality, I'm just having trouble with pulldown for some reason.

Can anyone give me exact specifications (where to go, what to set) for a project shot in 4:3 24pA on the original DVX100? What should the project and sequence settings be?

thanks...
