DVX User unveils new camera care for all plan

DVX User has unveiled a new extended warranty that applies to all members, giving them complete coverage on all equipment starting today. It even covers pre existing conditions, so if your HVX has a few blown pixels, no worries, you are covered. The powers that be have drafted and ratified a 2700 page document with all the details. Everyone on the board will be required to purchase the warranty, it is not possible to opt out. However, big time producers will pay a chunk of change for participation, while small timers will pay nothing. According to the powers that be, this is the fair way to administer the plan. (the administrators, have however, excluded themselves from the plan- they have a special one from the manufacturer). Admins of 14 DVX categories , including Audio, HVX, Jobs and DIY, are suing DVXuser, claiming they cannot afford the plan.

Please note that while they will begin collecting premiums today, no claims may be made until 2014. At that time, any member not purchasing the plan will pay a $695 fine. No one is sure who is going to fix the cameras under the warranty, as many repairmen have said they will quit or retire early if the plan is implemented.

Disclaimer: DVXuser has not really established a camera care plan. The above is not intended to start a political discussion. Just food for thought. :engel017:

Congratulations!

Of course, for decades, most civilized camera-owners have taken that type of warranty-agreement
for granted.

It is rather peculiar that only one industrialized nation doesn't have a camera warranty plan.
One.

I pay over $500 dollars a month for my camera warranty, and it keeps covering less and less.

My wife's camera won't white balance, and she can't get a warranty, anywhere. Why should that be?

45 American camera owners have no warranty.
So with all the people without warranties going to the emergency camera repair shop for all repairs, even the less than urgent repairs, we all end up paying for their repairs anyway.

And I think it's a good idea that the new warranties will actually have to spend 80-85% of their warranty charges on repairs- that means more camera repairs.

Imagine that, fixing cameras... after all, that's what the warranty is for, not to let a warranty company print money.

The REDs have had great support for years... I hope all cams end up on the RED plan... but I'm just as happy considering all my old cams disposable.

Having one’s camera covered by warranty has nothing to do with RED’s original business plan. It’s just common sense for most compassionate camera owners, whether they’re shooting on an HV20 or 35mm.
