DVX User Co-op Rental House

So I would assume that Southren California has the largest area of members, how sweet would it be to create a dvxuser rental house...

Basically monthly membership, and first come first served. We could just have limits to how much you could rent and for how long each month.

you should also only be able to sign up if you know how to use the gear and there could be diffrent levels of memberships to be able to use more expensive, advance gear.

Maybe start with a 100 members, $500 intital fee, thats $50,000 right there for equipment. Then maybe 200-300 a month.

I know there are thousands of logistical nightmares, but i think it could be possible.


...any other ideas or maybe a simple "no, thats a horrible idea"...

Seriously though, what would be the benefit of this over a normal rental house? The starting fee is pretty expensive.

I don't think a monthly fee makes sense because a lot of people don't shoot every day or every week. If it's narrative there's pre-production, post production, and they're still paying for equipments they aren't using.

its pretty easy to ring a 500 dollar bill for one day of shooting from a rental house. If you shoot 2 days, it pays for it's self. Maybe its not good for the hobbiest, but if you shoot a music video, commerical, 1 or 2 things a month, i think it could be cost effective when you have low budgets.


but still could completely fail. haha.
