Just recently, a few friends and me met together to get a few projects going. We discussed the possibility of starting a web series, especially now with the regulation of Youtube. With that, I thought of the DVX boards.
Here's what I was thinking: we could put together a short, weekly web series that we'd post on Youtube. There, we'd interview current DVXuser filmmakers who are working on projects they'd like to talk about. Interviewees would be announced two weeks in advance of the episode being posted, so users could post questions they'd like to ask. If the interviewee would like, we would post clips of their flick or behind the scenes footage. Since there's a lot of questions here on the board about equipment and what not, I'd like there to be a bit of focus on that too.
Now the question is, how would these interviews work? That could go two ways:
1) It's all pre-recorded. We write down a 'script' of sorts with the questions and answers, much like a talk show. Then, the question part and the answer segment is shot separately and exchanged over e-mail. The only thing here is that there's little to no room for improvisation.
2) The other option is Skype, which I believe has a webcam function. I would just need to become familiar with it to see if there's a way to record both ends of the conversation. Anyone who knows about Skype, any help would be appreciated!
I know there's questions and answers being asked directly over the forums, but I believe this sort of idea would increase communication and help educate anyone who wants to know what people are shooting and how they get it done. This is nothing official by any means, and just something we the community can put together.
Let me know what you guys think of the rough idea so far, and if you have any suggestions.
Happy filming!
